Recipe(tried): Watery sauce soultion- my views

I don't ever use instant potatoes so I usually don't have that handy. I have always used a bit of the cooking liquid, water,or broth mixed with flour or cornstarch to thicken up my dishes. I think the flakes would be fine, but would only use them in moderation as thry do have a texture and can change your dish. Hope this helps!
