SandwichesI was so glad when I found this recipe. Had been looking for years. Yes, what memories came back as I made the salad: Enjoy:
Woolworth's Ham Salad Sandwiches
Source: Miracid22
"54 yrs, ago I worked at the soda fountain. The ham salad recipe was..."
Servings: 2
1 (1-inch) slice baked ham -- DICED
1/4 cup finely diced celery -- more if desired
sweet pickle relish -- as desired
salad dressing (not mayo) -- as needed*
salt and fresh ground black pepper -- to taste
4 slices whole wheat bread -- toasted
2 each lettuce leaves -- optional
DICE the ham slice (this is very important, do not grind or chop it); add the diced celery; then add enough pickle relish and Kraft's Salad Dressing (not Mayo); season it to your likings and mix well.
Spread the ham salad onto two of th toasted whole wheat bread slices, top with a lettuce leaf and place the last toast slices on. Cut each sandwich diagonally. Serve with chips.

NOTES: Tom's note: It is the diced ham that makes the difference. Chopping or grinding the ham just will not come up to the Woolworth's that I remember.
*Be sure to use Kraft's Miracle Whip Salad Dressing and NOT mayonnaise.
