Recipe(tried): World's Best German Chocolate Cake

THE BEST GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE

A 3-layer cake that's out of this world and will get rave reviews!!

4 oz. German Chocolate plus 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Melt chocolate in 1/2 cup boiling water. Cool.

Cream butter and sugar. Add yolks, vanilla and chocolate. Beat well. Add flour alternately with buttermilk and baking powder. Fold in egg whites.

Pour into 3 greased and wax papered 8- or 9-inch pans (grease the wax paper too).

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.

COCONUT PECAN FROSTING

1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups coconut
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 1/2 sticks margarine

Cook milk, sugar, beaten yolks, butter and vanilla til thick. Add coconut and pecans. Cool. Then beat to spreading consistency. Enough to frost your three layers.
