Recipe: "Yankee" Trifle
Misc.Hi Guys,
Thought you might enjoy this dessert before the summer comes to an end. You will need a large mold - or a large bundt pan....or even a big glass clear bowl, and of course, you can actually use a trifle dish!
Here it is:
YANKEE TRIFLE
10 inch angel food cake
One of each: strawberry, lime, & orange/pineapple jello (3oz.)
l 10 oz. pkg. frozen strawberries, (partially thawed and UNdrained)
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream (softened)
l (15-oz.) can crushed pineapple DRAINED
l (ll-oz.) can Mandarin oranges DRAINED
METHOD:
Cut cake into thirds. Put each third in a separate bowl.
Tear into bite-size pieces. SPRINKLE each bowl of cake pieces with the different flavors of jello, and toss each one thoroughly.
To assemble:
Place strawberry flavored cake in bottom of (whatever you're using)
and add strawberries, and 1/3 of the softened ice cream.
Next...add pineapple, next...add lime cake, then 1/3 of ice cream...next add Mandarin oranges then orange cake and last of ice cream. Freeze overnight or longer. Before serving, remove from freezer for 30-45 minutes. Unmold by loosening around edges, and turn upside down on an ample sized platter....or serve "as is" if using a glass dish....
