I had to purchase a new bread-machine. The first time I used my regular granular yeast (purchased at Costco) in a rather large and economical package, I noticed my new machine started mixing immediately. The end result was granules of undissolved yeast in the finished bread. Not wanting to throw my yeast away and purchase the bread yeast called for in the manual, I decided to go the old fashioned way and used 1/4 of the water called for in the recipe, warmed it, added a bit of sugar and the amount of yeast called for in my recipe. After it foamed, I added it to the rest of the water in the machine and proceeded as usual. VIOLA!!
