ISO: Batter Pie using fruit cocktail

Misc.
As I was growing up in the 50s and 60s my dad would make this wonderful dish that he called Batter Pie. The only ingredients that I can remember are fruit cocktail, margarine and whatever it took to make a batter. I do remember that the fruit cocktail went on the bottom of a oven safe bowl, then margarine on top of that and then the batter on the very top. He then put the bowl in the oven to bake. During the baking, the fruit cocktail and the margarine moved to the top of the bowl. My dad can no longer cook or remember this recipe. I have been looking for the recipe for over 20 years, hoping that I could cook it for him at least one more time. He does remember eating it and hopes that I can find it.
