ISO: Bunuelos using coke cola

While stationed in the military, in one of the Military magazines, which we received free, there was a recipe for making bunuelos. The difference in this recipe was that instead of using baking power, coke cola was used as the leavening. I have searched and searched and am unable to locate this recipe, even on the Internet. I know how to make bunuelos from flour, but they do not come out as crispy and as delicious as the ones I used to make using coke cola. HELP, New Years is coming around and I would sure like to spread out a table with the tradition Mexican New Years tradition of fried bunuelos.
