ISO: calling any southern who can help

I brought a Smithfield ham for Christmas dinner....never have prepared ham before....it is soaking as per instructions...then it needs to be washed throughly.....HOW do you wash a ham? I'd appreciate any help. Best wishes for a special hoilday.
