Carol:
As Chris is busy with his final year exam, i don't want to disturb him. I am wondering whether or not you could translate this recipe for Kue Lapis? Many thanks!

ps: I think pandan leaves for coloring is OK as it's a natural product? I often use it in the Hananese chicken rice dish to get the extra exotic flavor. (Is it harmful? Just curious...)---------------------------
KUE LAPIS

Bahan: 950 ml santan (dari 1 1/2 butir kelapa), 1/2 sdt garam,
2 - 3 lb daun pandan disobek-sobek diikat, 250 gr tepung beras,
100 gr tepung kanji, 300 gr gula pasir, sumba merah dan hijau
Caranya:
-Masak santan, garam dan daun pandan sampai mendidih sambil
diaduk-aduk. Angkat, lalu sisihkan sampai agak dingin/hangat.
-Campur tepung beras, tepung kanji dan gula, aduk sampai rata
lalu tuangi santan hangat sedikit demi sedikit sambil diuleni
sampai licin. Bagi adonan jadi 3 bagian. Sebagian dicampur
dengan sumba hijau, sebagian diberi sumba merah dan sebagian
lagi dibiarkan berwarna putih
-Olesi loyang ukuran 20 x 20 cm dengan minyak. Didihkan air
dandang, panaskan loyang selama 2 - 3 menit. Masukkan 50 ml
adonan warna hijau ke dalamnya. Kukus dalam dandang tertutup
selama 5 menit sampai agak mengeras. Setelah itu masukkan lagi
adonan warna putih sebanyak 50 ml, ratakan ke seluruh permukaan
kue, lalu kukus lagi selama 5 menit. Setelah mengeras masukkan
adonan berwarna merah. Ulangi melapis selang seling sampai se-
luruh adonan masuk ke dalam cetakan. Pada lapisan terakhir,
tutup dengan penutup dandang yang dilapisi serbet agar kue lapis
tidak kena air dandang. Kukus lagi selama 25 - 30 menit sampai
seluruhnya matang.
-Angkat, keluarkan dari dandang dan dinginkan. Potong-2 ukuran
1x6 cm
Untuk 25 potong
