ISO: Famous-Barr Cheesecake

What a small world. I was born in Saint Louis in 1961 and we moved when I was small. However we used to visit my grandma every year. I also remember that cheesecake. It was heaven. The only thing that comes close is the original cheesecake made by Wegmans in Rochester, New York. They are a grocery chain and I have never tried to get their recipe but I believe you could order a cheesecake online from them. Hope this helps. But, trust me I have tried several cheesecakes trying to replicate the taste of the Famous and Barr cheesecake and this comes very close.

I believe Wegman's used to sell Cheesy Eddies cheesecakes packaged with their label (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If they bake their own now the recipe must be the same or very similar to Cheesy Eddie's. I haven't had a side-by-side taste test but you might want to try a Cheesy Eddies (click here) and see what you think (for those not in the area, they do ship - I don't think Wegman's does).
