ISO: Help...German Recipes

This will be my husband and in-laws first Christmas without his grandparents. Each Christmas his grandmother used to make raw beef with onions and another dish called soltz (sp?). If anyone can provide me with either or both of these recipes, I'd love to surprise them with it Christmas Eve. Thank you in advance!
