ISO: Keeping Sourdough Starter

I haven't been good about feeding my sourdough starter. I go 2 or 3 weeks without properly feeding or using it. Directions said to measure 1 cup every week and feed it. I've used it and seems to turn out OK but I wonder if I am really weakening things. Any thoughts?
Should I start over?
