ISO: Linda: The Mandoline?

Linda,

Have you ever used a mandoline? A friend gave me one over 15 years ago; he was living in Paris and brought it back on a visit. It didn't come with directions and I must admit it's sat in our attic all of these years, still wrapped in its brown paper! If you have any tips or instructions, maybe it would resurface!
