ISO: Pork hocks, sauerkraut, and dumplings request

Does anyone happen to have the old-fashioned recipe for pork hocks, sauerkraut, and dumplings? My mother-in-law used to make this and my husband loves it, so I am going to attempt to try to make it. All I can remember is that the dumplings were put on the top of the kettle and the cover had to stay closed until the dumplings were done. Thanks to everyone who can help me.
