ISO: Recipe for date, raisin, and cherry fruitcake?

I'm looking for a recipe that my mother in Texas used to make fruit cakes years ago. It had only dates, raisins, maraschino cherries, and nuts. I remember you boiled the raisins and added baking soda to the juice. I'd love to find that recipe.
