ISO: Ripe pineapple??

Hi,
I brought a pineapple back from Hawaii 5 years ago, ate it and followed instructions on planting. Now we have a pineapple but my question is, How do you know when it is ripe and ready to pick. It is pretty big and turning yellow. Thanks. Kitty
