re: Fruit on a pineapple plant - If it is turning yellow and smells sweet it is ripe. Go ahead and eat it.
Misc.If your pineapple is turning yellow and smells sweet it is ripe. Go ahead and eat it. Save the top and put it in a bowl in full sun light. A new pineapple plant will start to grow. Keep it wattered. When roots have started plant in a large pot. If it is kept in the sun and watered it will grow to a large size and evenutally reproduce a pineapple. If you are in a cooler area bring your pineapple inside during the cold months. I have one pineapple plant that I planted this way back in 2000 that is still going strong.
