ISO: Simple Syrup

When we were in the Carribean, we talked with a bartender who was nice
enough to share his recipe for rum punch. It calls for simple syrup. I saw
a directions for making it in a magazine, but didn't get it cut out before
the magazine was discarded. Can anyone help me?
