ISO: soup ideas

Misc.

Hi I thought i'd ask you all for some ideas.

I am in charge of the soup course for a progressive dinner -- i have the layout and table ready in mind got some GREAT help over at the party board for that. I'm using soup cans as bowls believe it or not!! I knotched them to hold the spoon and put on some ribbon -- i have a "hobo" kind of a theme going with a holiday trin for a centerpice.

i will be using water pitchers (tied with bandanas!) to serve the soup so it must not be too chunky.

I was thinking of maybe 2-3 types. one i thought would be good is tomato bisque i found one recipe here for that -- which is fine but if anyone has an easy one ....

What else? I don't know what the other courses will be so that is not much help :)

HOBBS help!! i know you will have a great many ideas .... I will need to serve 24 and will plan on about 1 cup per person.

what is the difference between a bisque and regular soup?

I have made lots of soups mostly easy thick ones but i think given the pichers this should be thin .... ?

thanks ever so much!

PS i was thinking too aobu those carmelized onions (posted way back) in a beef base .... ?
