Hi Nancy,

Amen to what you said about us fortunate wives that stay home and spend our hubby's money wisely. I believe it is a responsibility of each of us to do just that. My wise old Mom is always saying, "Frugality and economy start in the kitchen" and she is so very right.

How many times do we throw away food that can become tomorrow's soup or how many times do we buy fruit or vegetables and let them rot in the drawers or counter?

I only cut out coupons for the items that are consumed at our house. I diligently shop the specials and when I see meat on sale, I buy it in bulk, put it in portions in baggies and freeze it.

For example, one of our favorites is boneless, skinless chicken breasts. For some reason on earth, this meat has become as expensive as beef. I only buy it when Albertson's has it for 1.99/lb. I buy three large packages, each package containing 6 breasts, that's 12 half-breasts to me re-package it at home by putting two breasts per baggy. Usually, this will hold me until their next sale. I am waiting right now for a sale as I have 3 baggies in the freezer. In the meantime, I am using my pork chops (found for sale at another store), ground turkey (1 lb. paks found for 99 cents each), and different cuts of roasts.

Those coupons that I cut out take me not even 5 minutes to cut out on Sunday. When I hear neighbors tell me, "I don't have time", I have to wonder about their sense of money. These are the same people that run their AC all day long, even when they are not home and then they wonder why they have a $300.00 electric bill....duh!!!!

It's good to save, those pennies saved will come in handy later.
