Irish on the home page, you will find tons of Irish recipes.
I'm sure one of those will be for Ham & Cabbage. Actually,
there are lots for Bacon & Cabbage, which was the original
basis for Corned Beef & Cabbage. I believe (& I'm not sure
what site this info came from - maybe TKL) that the Irish
always had bacon & cabbage or ham & cabbage because beef
was very expensive. When they emigrated to the US, beef was
much more plentiful and so it became corned beef & cabbage.
Just a little bit of trivia & my apologies to anyone & TKL
if that is where I learned the original info. But that is
the place you really want to look for Irish recipes, and
I'm sure someone will post one for you here, too.
