Balsamic vinegar, what kind to buy nt

Misc.

Would like to know what kind (if there is kinds) do you buy, say for baking onions? Heard that if you cut both ends off onions pour balsamic vinegar over, (first put tablespoon butter on top then the vinegar and bake 30 minutes turn onions over and bake another 30 minutes . 350 degrees. Again what kind of balsamic vinegar do I get?
