canning apples

Misc.
My favorite is to peel, slice and core the apples into thick slices, then make a light syrup, then add a bunch of those little red hot cinnamon candies to the syrup. The apples have a wonderful taste and lovely color. You can also add the candies to applesauce. One can make apple pie filling with a product called Clear Jel. It is a type of thickener that results in a filling similar to the boughten cans. The Clear Jel does not break down like regular cornstarch or tapioca. I have the pie filling recipes and can be used with other fruit than apples, too. I also found a recipe for an apple pie jam which has raisins and spices to make it taste like apple pie. I have not yet tried it. Also, I have a recipe for using carmels and making a carmel apple butter. Let me know if you want any of these recipes.
