Recipe: Fromage Beef Pie (using ground beef, croutons, mushrooms and Cheddar)

FROMAGE BEEF PIE

1 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 (6 oz.) box seasoned croutons, divided use
1 (4 oz.) can tomato sauce (1/2 cup)
2 teaspoons instant minced onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten, divided use
1/2 cup sliced fresh or canned mushrooms
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tomato, sliced

Combine beef, 1 cup croutons, tomato sauce, onion, salt and 1 egg; press onto sides and bottom of a 9-inch pie pan. Mix remaining croutons, egg, mushrooms, green pepper and cheese. Arrange tomato slices and crouton mixture over beef crust.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes.

Makes 6 servings
