I purchased some glass jars many years ago with the glass lids and rubber rings for canning. They were blue and a special edition (centenial I hink) and I thought they would make wonderful gifts. I tried pickles and tomato sauce. I did not have a good rate of sealing, about 50/50. As I emptied them, I didn't try canning again. Too much trouble with too much chance of not being successful. Anyway, they made wonderful gifts filled with candies and drink mixes. And, they were pretty. Good luck with yours.
