Hi, Brenda. I would tend to agree with Gladys, because food-borne illness can be really nasty. As an aside, there is a restaurant in San Francisco that claims to have a pot of cassoulet cooking (the same way, by simply adding to it daily) for 20 years.

When I use my crockpot, I usually follow the instructions given.
