Misc.The second recipe, as it is written, is very confusing:-(! I wish I knew what to tell you. I think that you could do it either way, but I guess that I would include the walnuts in the batter, then, even though additional sugar and walnuts are not listed as ingredients, I would use a small amount of each for sprinkling on top, before baking. If walnuts were not an ingredient that your relative remembers being in the cake, I would just omit them entirely. One could still sprinkle the top with a small amount of extra sugar.
