Recipe: Garlic Dill Pickles (1982)

GARLIC DILL PICKLES

2 cups cider vinegar
1 cup water
1/3 cup coarse salt
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons pickling spices
1 tablespoon dried dill seed
2 teaspoons dried crushed red pepper
6 cloves garlic, peeled, crushed
3 to 4 medium cucumbers, sliced

Heat all ingredients, except cucumbers, to boiling in large saucepan; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.

Pour mixture over cucumbers in sterilized jar; cool to room temperature.

Refrigerate, covered, 3 to 4 days before serving.

Makes 1 quart
