How to Make a Backup of Your Bookmarks

Misc.

Cali, I'm sorry that this is too late for you, but maybe for future reference and for others who may have the same problem someday:

Here are some tips on how to make a backup of your bookmark file. You might want to make a backup once a week, or more often if you add bookmarks frequently. It's wise to save the file to your hard drive and/or to a floppy disk so if you have a hard drive crash it will be safe.

Netscape:

1. Open your bookmark file by choosing BOOKMARKS from the pull down menu just to the left of the Help menu - a full page with your bookmarks should appear on your screen.

2. Select SAVE AS from the FILE menu, type in a name for the file, and choose where you want to save it.

(For importing back into Netscape, choose BOOKMARKS from the pull down menu and with that page open, choose IMPORT from the FILE menu and select the file you saved.)

Explorer: To export your favorites list

1. From the FAVORITES menu, choose OPEN FAVORITES. To make sure the favorites window is active, click in it.

2. From the FILE menu, choose EXPORT. Type a name for the file. Choose the location where you want the file to be saved.

Tips: You can export just the contents of a folder in your favorites list by double-clicking the folder to open it and then choosing Export.

(For importing back into Explorer, use the IMPORT command in the FILE menu and select the bookmark file you want to import.)

I hope that's helpful!
