Misc.I think that the reason my parents used it for cooking some things was more because it seemed economical. Why throw it out? They both lived through the depression so they were careful with their pennies like others who lived through it.
The hominy was always crispy like hash browns or home fries so my brother and I loved it cooked that way. My dad always made popcorn with bacon grease. Of course, that was pretty good, too:-)!
