Misc. Hi Joan,
It looks like the objective is the same as in other recipes I've seen - to toast the noodles and nuts to use as a garnish. Maybe next time try cooking the noodles and nuts on top of the stove in a frying pan where it's easier to adjust the heat and stir. If you don't have a pan large enough, do them in batches or put a 9x13-inch pan across two burners. Get them as toasty as you like and then drain them on paper towels. With a cup of oil in the dressing I think adding the butter would be too much (also the butter flavor by the time the noodles and nuts are done toasting will probably throw off the taste of the dressing).
