June Georgia Is Beautiful!

Hi June!

Georgia is a beautiful state with much to offer. I can't express enough how delicious southern food is up there. There are many places that feature the "meats and threes" plate, that is to say, some sort of meat such as fried chicken, smothered chicken, baked chicken, pork chop or beef served with three different vegetables. The favorite beverage of choice is the Iced Sweet Tea of course.

It can snow in Athens they tell me, but it is a light snow. It was 29 degrees one morning when we were there and it can get colder than that. Summers are as hot as in Florida. Athens is considerd Northwest Georgia...you can be up in the mountains in about 1 1/2 hours and it is breathtaking. I love the area because of its serenity and peacefulness. If you and your husband ever have the chance, drive thru 1-75, go thru Athens on the perimeter road, which is a road that encircles the city to connect to different areas, and connect to North 441/129 to really appreciate the beauty of the area. Madison is an antebellum town with a historic Main street and beautiful "Gone with the Wind" mansions. Going thru there to go the the Western North Carolina mountains is incredibly intoxicating, especially in Fall when the leaves are all changing their colors.
