'Lovin' Care' Packages ...

Misc.

I'm sure you know your son's favorites .... so try to make those. When my so was in the navy I sent him tons of banana bread -- his favorite! Plus chocoalte chip cookies, etc. I also had checked with him as to what was 'available' and what he would like. Each is different -- and its surprising what some ask for!

And MANY MANY years ago when I was young and living in the Mediterranean area, my Mother would send me 'care' packages. That was back before foam beads and bubble wrap ... I'm talking 1958 to 1966. So ... I'm old! At that time - things would often take 6 - 10 weeks by ship. If the package just missed one .... well, it sat. Some things didn't travel too well. However, one year I asked for Rosettes (you know those very fragile deep fried Scandanivia delicacies?) .... My mother must have sent me a whole batch -- a small hat box size -- all packed with layers of WAX PAPER. No freezer paper I guess! And out of the whole box ... only 2 were a bit crumpled. Oh she had this box in another box with other goodies. We were so amazed at how well it traveled. Other things ... other times..... whoops!

I save/saved tin containers (round and square cracker and cookie ones) ... they are great to pack things in. Also, when I make, say, banana bread, I will make it in disposable foil pans - then put it back in the pan after it has cooled and REALLY wrap it. I think the pan gives extra support.

I'm sure he'll enjoy whatever you send. Stick in a tiny Xmas ornament and a few 'joke' things.
