low-fat pizza ideas

Misc.

I start with a home made dough, then you know what's in it.

Then canned pizza sauce, I have used no-name and it works well. I add spices to the sauce like oragano, basil and garlic and chilli peppers, if we want it spicy, to taste. I have also had take out pizza with a pesto sauce on it rather than tomato, it was amazing...especially if you love garlic, I'm sure you can find a pesto sauce recipe in the archives.

The toppings are where you can make it really low fat. Load on the veggies...green/red/yellow peppers, tomatoes, green onions, thin sliced zuchinni, mushrooms(put them on your half if you like them) olives, whatever your heart desires I've seen eggplant and artichokes on pizza too but never tried it. Why not brocolli florettes, they'd taste good topped with a little cheese.

If you want meat try a little chicken or turkey breast, or lean hamburger cooked up in some spices (cumin is good with pizza)just put it on in a thin layer. If you want the deli meats just keep them to a minimum for a little taste.

Then the cheese. Try part-skim mozerella it's great. My trick to making it look like there is more than there is is to grate it on the small side of the grater. It grates up all fluffy an appears to look like there is more on the pizza than there really is. This way it also melts down into the pizza toppings some. You can also vary your cheese, try adding a little feta it's a favorite in our house.

I hope these ideas help some,
use your imagination-Good Luck!
