Micha, I haven't had the FoodSaver very long, but the last time

I bought blue cheese was July 17th and I still have one vacuum packed portion left and it's still good. I don't know what the date was on the package. That's the first time I'd bought it since having the vacuum saver.

It works great for the bulk cheeses, prosciutto, etc we buy in bulk and I also use it to freeze andouille bought in bulk. I vac-packed my leftover parm rinds for minestrone and pop them in the freezer. It also works really well for shrimp. When there's a special on it, I buy it still frozen and divide it into smaller portions and vacuum seal it. Keeps much better in the freezer, imo. I did find I had to put it in an open protective sack first, though, or shrimp shells would puncture the sack and release the seal. We also buy coffee beans at Costco or Sam's, divide them into portions and vac seal them. They can be frozen, refrigerated or shelved. I am enjoying finding different uses for it.
