Mickey, Cat Baths Info.....
Misc. Hello Mickey,
I started giving baths to my kitties since they were little, maybe that's the trick. When this one came into the house, I went straight to the sink and bathed him using a good cat shampoo.
I also have a 4 year old (Littly Boy) and a 16 year old(Tinky). What I do, about every 3-4 months, run the warm water, it helps if there is a showere attachment. Of course, the cats meow and cling to me as I lower them in but once I wet them, they become zombies!! Perhaps it's the shock but in either casae, I talk to them very soothingly praising "what a good baby you are" all the time I am bathing them. I work quick as I am on my knees and then I fluff them as good as I can with a towel. Then I go into my bathroom and lay them on my lap with the towel and proceed to bloow-dry them on low. I fluff them up and that's it!!
I believe the trick is starting when they are very young...I also clip their nails on a bi-weekly basis. My cats don't claw the furniture either because when they were little if they had the notion, I would squirt water on them from a spray nozzle. They got the idea quick!! The only place they are allowed to scratch is on the side of the citrus ladder in the Family Room where I hang those holiday blankets from each rung. They started that on their own...
Good Luck Mickey!! Gina
