My Biggest Failure!!

Misc.
Hi All:
I guess we've all had flops or recipes that didn't come out as planned. I remember when I just moved into an apartment I invited over a good friend for a steak dinner. I grew up with an electric stove and was not familiar with the gas stove I had in my apartment. I placed the oven on broil and placed the steak on the top rack of the oven. I waited and waited and each time I checked the steak it was still red. I was sure steak only took a short time to cook but it was now going on one hour. The rice was waiting and became overcooked and the salad soggy.

My friend came in the kitchen and openned a drawer on the bottom of the stove that was nice and hot. "This is the broiler in a gas oven", he said. I was so embarrassed. We still ate the overcooked meal. It wasn't very good.
