My heart goes out to you!
Have you consider volunteering? There are several seniors who volunteer at the schools here; many just read to the younger classes and just help out where needed. Or how about volunteering at a hospital? We had a son in Newborn Intensive Care when he was born and I was greatful to the volunteers who could come in and just hold his when I couldn't be there with him.
Just a couple of activities that may help while away some time until something comes up?
