G'day there girls, a friend of mine used to wrap her gifts in pretty paper but NOT stick it down.
Instead, Ruth would tie it up with a few strands of brightly coloured, knitting yarn, then attach the tag to the yarn. That way, she said, the paper can be used again, with no messy sticky tape all over it, or nasty tears.
