packet pandan leaves in the fridge
Misc. karen, sorry to cut in here...
while staying in melbourne, i had trouble to find the fresh pandan leaves as well. then one day, i met this little old lady in an asian grocer taking out a packet of pandan leaves from a fridge. i asked her to show me the packet and found just what i needed. the ones in the packets aren't the same as the fresh ones in quality and color is a lot darker due to the moist in the fridge. however, they are much better than i use the artificial bottled flavouring. i was reluctant to make anything pandan before that and always used vanilla as a sub. then i found this imported product and was much happier since. you need to use more of the leaves as they lose a lot of their beautiful fragrance in the fridge, for the obvious reason. good luck hunting.
ps: i might not be able to go to uk this august but will postpone till next april. maybe we shall discuss this issue in e-mail later...
