Poor tomato covered Gina!
Misc.Gina, that's why I NEVER used fresh tomatoes to make tomato sauce nor does ANYONE in my family, grandmothers included LOL! Sundried tomatoes would have been (and still are) a great idea. Just slice and dry. Period. You know, tomatoes are also good raw, mixed through very hot pasta with garlic, basil and olive oil.
