Hi Gail,

Hopefully Larysa will see your question in time. Here's my suggestion, since it's an optional ingredient as stated in the instructions: "If using the breadcrumbs, sprinkle them over the dough, leaving a border about 1 1/2 inches wide.", you could leave them out or sprinkle a thin layer of fresh or unseasoned dry breadcrumbs over the pastry.
