I, too, thought it sounded like a great idea, but didn't buy one, because we were at friends' house and SHE had bought one - anyway, my husband said without a trace of tact - any old metal plate will do exactly the same thing! She and I didn't believe him of course, so he proved it by putting out two steaks, one on the "gadget" and the other on a metal plate and sure enough - both melted (SLOWLY) at the same rate!! DARN, don't you just hate when they're right :-)))

By the way, has anyone ever sent for the silver tarnish removal kit for 19.95 from TV that you put in the sink with baking soda and it miraculously dissolves all that tarnish right before your eyes?? How can they advertise that stuff like that - it's an absolute lie!! It hit the garbage shortly after I bought it, with a promise to myself that anything advertised on TV for 19.95 is an automatic red flag!
