The mysterious vegetable is...

Misc.
Hi Halyna,

The mysterious white, round, crisp vegetable in the Mai Fun you ate is water chestnuts. You can usually find them in small cans in supermarkets, but they're especially delicious if you can find fresh ones at a Chinese market. (The outsides are brown and kind of hairy; peel them before eating; you can eat them raw.) The fresh ones are crisp and sweet, kind of like a cross between an apple and coconut!
