Recipe(tried): Taco Bell Tostadas

Misc.

You simply fry corn tortillas in hot vegetable oil. Check to see if the oil is hot enough by dropping a small scrap of tortilla in the oil; if it sizzles it's hot enough, if not wait a moment or two. Place the whole tortilla in enough oil to cover it (1/4 inch) turn it right away (so it will fry flat). The shell will be crispy when the bubbling or sizzling is done. Drain the shells on paper towel or brown paper bag. I recommend thin (or taco-style) corn tortillas for a crispier shell.
This can be done without frying (no-fat) by placing the tortillas on a baking sheet in a very hot oven (400+ degrees F) but they have to be turned often so that they don't curl up.
Enjoy!
