Recipe(tried): Superior Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi! My chocolate chips won 2nd place at our Goshen Country Fair BUT the Blue Ribbon winner's husband told me that his wife's chocolate chips ALWAYS take 1st Place AND he told me they were Hilary Clinton's Recipe. Do you remember when Women's Day had a contest between Hilary & Barbara Bush? Hilary's were voted the best by the readers. Let me know if you win! Here is the recipe:

1-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine flour, salt & soda. Beat together shortening, sugars & vanilla with mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beating til fluffy. Gradually beat in flour mixture & oats, stir in chips. Drop by well-rounded tsp. onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350* for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Remove to wire rack.
