90 MINUTE CINNAMON ROLLS
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 cup warm water (105 degrees F)
3 tbsp. plus 1/3 cup sugar, divided use
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter, softened
1 egg
2 to 2 1/2 cups flour, divided use
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/3 cup raisins (optional)
Powdered Sugar Frosting (recipe follows)
Have all ingredients at room temperature.
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Beat in 3 tablespoons sugar, salt, 2 tablespoons softened butter, egg and 1 cup flour.
Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make soft dough. Turn out onto floured board and knead for 2 minutes until smooth.
Roll dough in 18x9-inches. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle with the remaining 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle raisins over sugar, if using. Roll up and seal edges firmly, then cut into 12 pieces. Arrange in 8-inch greased pan. Allow to double in size.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool about 15 minutes, then drizzle with Powdered Sugar Frosting.
POWDERED SUGAR FROSTING
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 to 4 teaspoons milk.
Combine the ingredients for the frosting.
Makes 12 cinnamon rolls
