Recipe: A Picnic Checklist
Tips and TricksA PICNIC CHECKLIST
Source: Sunkist
Make sure you have everything before you get to the picnic site. Use this printable checklist to ensure a successful outing:
A blanket or large tablecloth-if the grass may be damp, bring a plastic tarp, too
Napkins
Baby wipes (or a few damp washcloths in plastic bags)
Paper plates, plastic cups and plastic utensils (why spoil the fun washing dishes or worrying about breaking glassware?)
A manual can opener
A corkscrew
A small cutting board and knife
Aluminum foil
Grill & barbecue utensils
Extra propane (for gas grills)
Charcoal briquettes
Lighter fluid
Safety matches
Hand sanitizer
Two ice chests or picnic coolers: one for beverages; one for perishable foods
Ice
Bottled water
Beverages
Condiments
Extra garbage bags for clean-up
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Games or toys
A flashlight
A portable radio
Sweater or windbreakers
Before you pack up this weekend's picnic, remember these important food safety tips:
- Always wash your hands before preparing or eating food.
- Cook hamburgers until the middle is 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Keep hot food hot and cold food cold and don't leave food out for more than two hours, less time if the temperature is high.
- Keep raw meat, poultry and fish away from cooked foods.
- Package leftovers to maximize safety or else throw them out.
