Recipe: Afternoon Stew (using sweet pickles)

Main Dishes - Beef and Other Meats
Afternoon Stew

2 lbs. stew meat
vegetables, cut for stew (potatoes, onions, carrots, as desired)
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 sauce can water
1/2 cup sweet pickles
1/2 cup pickle juice or wine
Salt and pepper to taste

Place all ingredients in a Dutch oven.

Cover and cook in a 275 degree F oven for 5-6 hours.

Hi Anne,

I found this recipe - hopefully it's the same one you're looking for. I think this would work well made in a crock pot too. The recipe didn't give the size can of tomato sauce, I'm guessing 8 ounces.
