Hi again, this recipe was submitted by Margy Mann of St.Louis, MO to Home Cooking Magazine November, 2001 (no longer in publication); it may be close to what you are looking for.
APPLE CREAM COFFEECAKE
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided us
1/2 cup butter, or margarine softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
Whipped Topping (optional, for serving)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease springform pan well (this would be a 'cheesecake' pan.
Combine walnuts, cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar.
In large bowl, cream butter. Gradually add remaining 1 cup sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla; set aside.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture (alternately) with sour cream. Beat well.
Spread half of batter in prepared pan. Top with apple slices. Sprinkle with half of walnut mixture. Top with remaining bater. Sprinkle on remaining walnut mixture.
Bake for 35 minutes, or until done. Let stand for 30 minutes.
Remove side of pan and cut into slices. Serve with whipped topping, if desired.
Makes 6-8 servings
